Wine and Heritage: Patrimoine des Terroirs gives his support to the UNESCO Manager’s Day
(Nov 12, 2008)
Under the aegis of UNESCO, the ONG Vocations Patrimoine launches the Debates of Manager’s Day for the successful management of the world heritage sides, with the support if its partners (Mazars, Axa and Headley Trust). The initiative unites the curators and organisers of the three European Patrimoine member states (France, Germany and Ireland) and aspires to “create the debate, taking a transvers stance and render governments, institutions, enterprises, experts, the ONG and the public more sensible to the necessity of supporting the current and future managment of the heritage sites and to increase the future touristic flow.”
The French vine heritage sites are represented among the public speakers by Dominique Tremblay, in the name of the group Val de Loire. Association Patrimoine des Terroirs actively supports the initiative (to read the press release, click here).
The press release reminds that “878 places, classified as world heritage excert a considerable attraction to 898 million tourists in the world. This number will rise to 1 billion in 2010, according to the OMT, with an anticipated 1.000 sites enlisted as world heritage. The climatic changes, energy and mining exploitations, urbanisation and unscheduled tourism influence the conservation of these sites”.
