Bordeaux attracts the crowds
(July 03, 2008)
The Bordeaux fête le vin festival was very successful this year. 350 000 people were expected to attend, but there were actually 450 000 visitors, who drank a total of 45450 bottles of wine during various different tasting events and exhibitions.
Ok, the weather was on side, but this record attendance, as well as constant progression in visitor numbers over the last few shows, is an indicator of public interest in wine tourism events.
For the Bordeaux council, it is a good investment, since such exhibitions supports Bordeaux’s application for European Capital of Culture. For professionals, it is an excellent tool for promoting their wines.
